Empirical formula is C3H4N
Empirical formula weight = (3 x 12) + (4 x 1) + (1 x 14)
= 36 + 4 + 14
= 54
Molecular weight = 108
Multiplying Factor (n) = $\frac{\text{Molecular weight}}{\text{Empirical formula weight}}$
n = $\frac{108}{54} = 2$
∴ Molecular formula = (C3H4N) x 2 = C6H8N2
No. of carbon atoms in 1 mole of C6H8N2 = 6
∴ Mass of carbon in one mole of the compound (C6H8N2) = 6 x 12 = 72 g
Hence, in 1 mole of the compound (C6H8N2), there is 72 grams of carbon.
